Hard-To-Come-By Lifestyle

Our goal has been to make a life rather than make a living

We live on five remote acres on BC's Sunshine Coast in a home that we built from the very wood this land graciously provided.  It is a unique hexagonal design that has been modified and added onto as our needs have changed.

Over the years we have planted an eclectic mix of fruit trees, vines and bushes, vegetables, perennials, annuals and herbs within a circle carved out of the towering forest.

We have meandering trails weaving through the property ending up at a secret garden where we are sometimes lucky enough to see a deer, an elk, hummingbirds, a bear or owls.  Gazing upwards we find we are under the huge branches of an over 800 year old Douglas Fir tree.  The yard is full of huckleberries, blackberries, raspberries and salmon berries providing a constant supply of berries from Spring to Fall.

Our cabin, formerly Hard-To-Come-By Bed & Breakfast, is now our family retreat.  The centerpiece of the cabin is Ken's great grandfather's (read about him here) incredibly cozy antique sleigh bed.
