We live on five remote acres on BC's "Sunshine
Coast,"
in the home we built from the very wood this land graciously
provided. It is a unique hexagonal design that has been
modified and added onto as our needs have changed. The
guest cabin is just down the fern lined path, past
the bubbling pond, beyond our house. |
| Over the years we have
planted an eclectic mix of fruit trees, vines and bushes;
vegetables, perennials, annuals and herbs within a circle
carved out of the towering forest. |

We have meandering trails
weaving though the property ending up at a secret garden where we are
sometimes lucky enough to spot a deer, an
elk, owls or hummingbirds. Gazing upwards we find we are
under the huge branches of an over eight hundred year old Douglas Fir
tree. The yard is filled with huckleberries, currants, raspberries,
blackberries and salmon berries providing a constant supply of berries
from Spring to Fall. |
| Our guest cabin is comfortably
arranged with chairs and a coffee table and an ensuite bathroom with a shower. The centerpiece
of the cabin is Ken's great- grandfather's (read
about him here) incredibly
cozy, antique sleigh bed. Beside the cabin is
a terra cotta outdoor hearth. No T.V., stereo, vcr or phone to distract
us - in fact we have never owned a T.V. |
